About us
At Marigold Preschool we believe in actively engaging with your child. We do this by joining in on children’s games and activities, and focusing on children’s individual interests, often to help them become more engaged in learning.
Our teachers get down on children’s eye level and seek to make eye contact whenever possible. There are several methods of communicating with children in early childhood settings that prove beneficial to their development. By using open-ended questions and scaffolding, we help children to build upon their understanding of the world and begin to think critically. Other methods employed are self-talk and parallel talk as well as the use of repetition and extension when teaching.
Our Learning Environment
At Marigold, you will find learning areas that meet the needs of each individual child. These learning areas provide safe spaces that foster children’s physical, cognitive, social-emotional, and creative development. The environment promotes independence while encouraging children to be self-aware of their needs. We value the child as a whole and empower each child as they grow into their independence. By focusing on and respecting the individual child’s process, confidence is instilled as they embrace their creativity. Learning is a natural process for children that is enhanced by their environment, language, and opportunities given by adults. At Marigold, it is of the utmost importance that children are provided a safe space to feel secure and find a sense of self where they feel they can meet their own needs.

Marigold Preschool is located in the Sellwood Moreland neighborhood in SE Portland. We are currently enrolling for Fall 2026
