Our story

Our inspiring beginning

Marigold Preschool, LLC, was founded in July 2025 by two passionate early childhood educators. Our journey began with countless conversations about our ideal school, drawing on the best aspects of classrooms and communities we valued during years of teaching across various Portland area schools. We dreamed of building a strong school community through deep connections with each child in our care. Fostering community and creating a sense of belonging is paramount to our vision, and Marigold Preschool is dedicated to offering this to the children, families, colleagues, and the wider community we serve.

Our philosophy

At Marigold Preschool, we embrace a play-based emergent curriculum. Our classroom community actively creates its own learning through exploration and play. Our dedicated educators engage, observe, ask questions, listen, guide, and reflect with children as they learn. This collaborative environment fosters children’s learning and development, creating a stimulating space where children are encouraged to wonder, explore, cooperate, interact, negotiate, and express the pure joy of learning. By discussing new ideas together, we provoke children's thinking and provide opportunities for their ideas to truly come alive.

Experienced and passionate educators

Our team brings a wealth of experience, totaling 26 years, working in early childhood across a wide variety of programs, including public schools, non-profits, and Head Start. Our educational background spans both in education and child and family studies, ensuring a deep understanding of child development and effective teaching practices. We are deeply passionate about nurturing young minds and creating an environment where every child feels valued and inspired to learn.
